Melbourne, Australia

September, 2008

The World Sustainable Building Conference is part of a continuing series of international green building conferences that began in London (1994) and Vancouver (1998) - two very successful conferences organized by the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) and the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment (iiSBE), respectively.

CIB and iiSBE, organiser of the international Green Building Challenge, joined together to co-sponsor the sustainable buildings (SB) world conferences in Maastricht (2000) and Oslo (2002). The Division of Technology, Industry and Economics of the United Nations Environment Programme became a third co-sponsor of the SB series, supporting the SB05 World Conference in Tokyo.

SB08 Melbourne engaged a wide range of stakeholders in industry and government while ontinuing the traditional technical, research and academic streams. It provided an opportunity for technical professionals, academics, industry and government players to meet and interact with each other, and with those who are at the forefront of dvances in knowledge and practice.
