15th, 16th and 17th June
This workshop should see us focus on really testing the generator charging a battery, and running the pump and light. We will need to build some tanks and get the control system for the pump flow solved. The final shape of the generator unit will be decided. Transport enclosure to be finalized and poster display for Shizuoka developed at this workshop.

20th, 21st and 22nd July
Workshop session only for Matthew and Joshua – we will excuse Samuel from this workshop for birth of his baby and support of his wife. Matthew and Joshua to trial a surprise job – Joshua to complete the 2005 MTC surprise job with Matthew involved with the electronic circuit. Matthew will also help with some other electronic work such as generator and pump control circuit, as well as making some turbine blades and other mechanical stuff. We assume we will spend 20 total person hours on surprise project. I intend to keep everyone really busy.

17th, 18th and 19th August
Build a complete wind generator, pump, and stand and test unit to Shizuoka assessment documents. When building, freehand sketches will be done for all components and electrical/electronic circuits. Manufacturing or production plans for each component to be completed. Further discussion as to possible improvements to method of manufacture.

14th, 15th and 16th September
This workshop will be a full competition rehearsal in preparation for Shizuoka. Complete a surprise job/s and introduce interruptions to the smooth running and production of project – I will be really annoying the team members. All tools used to be either available in Japan or from our toolbox. All workshop machines are to be booked and times are to be recorded. Wind generator unit to be assessed using the Shizuoka assessment sheets.

This will be the last practical workshop using our tools – immediately after this workshop, toolboxes to be refilled with materials required and then locked and made available to the transport agency for shipment to Japan.

19th, 20th and 22nd October
The final workshop before Shizuoka; briefing, revisiting competition rules, assessment processes and reviewing section A of portfolio. Have a relaxing/casual session - mainly talking, without practical workshop sessions. We’ll invite past MTC competitors, Robert Peel, Brent Butler and Andrew Baker, to attend for motivation and relaying of their experiences at previous competitions.

8th November
The Australian team will be flying to Hobart on Wednesday 8th November and then leaving for Shizuoka on the following weekend. Experts will be leaving on the Tuesday night or Wednesday for Japan.
