| Our program provides alternative access to SACE (South Australian Certifcate of Education) by combining SACE studies with TAFE courses, work experience, vocational training and community programs. Most lessons are taught in the adult learning environment of Mount Barker TAFE. Support is provided by a range of local community agencies and organisations. |

| Program designed for 15 - 17yr olds who cannot complete school in a Mainstream setting. Offers Yrs 9 through 12. Strong focus on Adult Learning Environment, Independence, Generosity Responsibilty and CHOICE. Offers places for 50 students in an individually tailored environment. Been running for 3 years in Newcastle with other possible sites opening around NSW. |

| In operation for three years, ALTed attracts 16-18 year olds who have either become disengaged from school, or are not suited to mainstream schooling. Here they concentrate on Maths and English, but can undertake other courses. |

Alternative High Programme |

| Piloted in 2003, the Alternative High is a unique educational program, which meets the needs of young people aged 14 - 24 who left school early by providing the vital ‘second chance’ to gain an vocational education. 60 students participate in campus classes in inner/south west Sydney. With completion rates of 86% and waiting lists, the AHS is planning expansion of its campus network. |

Authentic Learning - education and industry liaison |

| Authentic learning – an educational and industry based liaison began in 2003 to combine activities that media departments had been involved in at Newstead College. Driven by a need to combine visual literacy, literacy and digital literacy into a program engaging all students, we created projects outside timetabled subjects where previously most students had shown that they can achieve success. |
